Kiwisport Reflection

Today I finished my Kiwisport Reflection from yesterday. Here is my reflection.

IALT: Write a reflection about Kiwisport

Kiwisport Reflection

Monday 27th February Room 9 went downstairs to the hall for our Badminton lesson with our instructor Ben.When we got in the hall we were given instructions to play stuck in the mud.Once we finished playing stuck in the mud, we went inside and he started teaching us how to move when your are going to hit the shuttle with Forehand.Learning how to move to hit the shuttle with Forehand was really difficult because I thought that I was going to fall. The way you move to hit the shuttle using Forehand sounded easy but was a little bit hard because I had to step out with my right foot and bring my left foot along in the back. After we got the hang of it me and my buddy Akanesi went to play a rally.A rally is when you hit the shuttle at your partner’s Forehand side. When he thought we were ready he called us down to the mat. When we were sitting down he taught us how to move when we are using Backhand. The movement that we had to use was more difficult because we had to first step out with our left leg if we were right handers and then we had to step out again with our right crossing over our left leg.So me and my buddy Akanesi went outside and practiced stepping, It was really hard .Once Ben thought we we were ready he told us we were going to do a rally with our partner. It was a lot harder than practicing to step because it felt like you were playing against someone for a title. When he called the people outside in he talked to us about the way we move to hit the shuttle.Once he finished his talk we put away the Badminton gear, said thank you and went back to class.

Valentine's Day Research

WALT: understand the origin of Valentine's day
Today I have finished my research about Valentine's Day
Where was it originated?
Valentine’s day was originated from a ancient Roman festival called Lupercalia. Lupercalia was celebrated annually on February 15th.

Why do we celebrate it?

We celebrate Valentine’s Day because it’s an Ancient and Roman Tradition. Also February is known as a month of Romance and how The real name of Valentine’s Day is St Valentine’s Day.

How did it came about?

Valentine’s day got it’s name from a famous saint. The most popular story about St Valentine was that he was a Priest in Rome in the third century.Emperor Claudius the second banned marriage because he thought the men women married were bad solders. In strike St Valentine thought that it was unreasonable and was really unfair. So St Valentine broke the rules and arranged a secret marriage. When Emperor found out St Valentine was thrown into jail and sentenced to death. In jail he fell in love wit the jailer’s daughter and when they were about to do the execution on the 14th February he gave a love letter signed From your Valentine.

When was it first celebrated?

Valentines day’s roots are from a roman festival called Lupercalia. Pope Gelasius 1 then realised that the 14th of February was St Valentine's day.

What does it mean?

The 14th of February is a day where it is traditional to send a Card, Gift or Letter to someone you admire of romantically involved with.

Who was involved?

The people involved in the Valentine’s Day Massacre was Al Capone and George “Bugs” Moran

Why the 14th of February?

The ancient Romans celebrated the feast of Lupercalia which was a Spring Festival on the 15th February. Then came in the introduction of Christianity and they moved the Festival back to the 14th February which is the Saint day that celebrated early martyrs with one named Valentine.

Kiwi Can Recount

Kiwi Can Rcount

WALT: Write a recount about Kiwi Can

Tuesday 21st February Room 9 went to Kiwi Can inside the Music Room. When we were lining up outside the Music Room Mr M put us into teams and their were 4 teams. I was in Team 4 and then we sat in our Group's. Our Kiwi Can leaders were Mr M and George. Our Energizer was walking around to the music , Finding a partner and also finding their Name, Nationality, Favourite food and Future Endeavours which is what they want to be when the grow up.After our Energizer we talked about how our Tone of voice can affect others. For example if you say the phrase " Wow that's great" in an angry tone people mostly think that you're not happy for them which is sort of like your jealous. After our Talk about tone of voice we did our activity which was acting out different Scenario's.After watching all of the other groups Scenarios I have to say they were so funny. I thought that our Kiwi Can Lesson was very cool because we got to have fun and I learnt that your Tone of voice can affect others.

Otahuhu Pool's

Otahuhu Pool Day

IALT: Write a Recount about what I did after school

Today after school I went with my Sister Tee, my Cousin Jonathan and Jonathan's friend Mino to the Otahuhu Pools. When we got inside the building we walked straight into the pool's because we were free. After we finished changing out of our clothes I had a shower and went to a Pool and dived inside. Then I waited for Tee and Mino to jump in.When they hopped in we did challenges like try to not touch the ground,Who can run the fastest in the water and Swimming races.Eventually a staff member went on speaker and told us we had to go because the pool was closing. So we went to the changing room, Had a shower and went back home.
