Technology Reflection

Technology Reflection
Last week I went to my Cooking class and we had the opportunity to make Spaghetti Bolognese. I was really excited because it was my first time making it and I haven't had it before. One thing that I enjoyed was making the sauce because it was very easy and it was smelling really nice when I was making it. One thing that I found really challenging was making the Meatballs because when you would think that it's cooked it would have pink spots. It was also my first time working with Wallymei and Kaleb and it wasn't too bad. I think that my next steps are to start practicing these recipes at home so I can start making dinner. The lessons that we learn in cooking class is to follow the instructions, Read the ingredients and measurements. One of the skills that I think that I need to work on is my Measurements because sometimes I put too much or too little of a ingredient.
Here is a presentation that will show you how to make Spaghetti Bolognese.😁

Pink Shirt Day

Pink Shirt Day!
Last week on friday it was Pink Shirt day. Pink Shirt day is a day where we wear pink to stop bullying. Pink Shirt day is also to help raise money for the Mental health foundation and it is also about celebrating differences. Pink shirt day started in Toronto Canada on the 18 of May 2007. Pink Shirt day started when 2 students stood up against a bully for mocking a new year 10 student for wearing a pink shirt. Our task on friday was to create an infographic about stopping bullying. One thing that I really enjoyed about this task was researching some of the facts because some of the facts I read were interesting. One thing that I found challenging was trying to put my ideas down because I wasn't really sure how to write them. I think that my next steps are to finish my work in the time given because I just finished today when it was supposed to be finished on friday.

Maths

Greetings welcome back to my blog. Today we had a maths session with Mr Tafea. Mr Tafea was our reliever for the day. I really enjoyed this lesson because it was really easy. We had a word problem and the question was asking 832 ÷ 8. In my group I had Akih, Arizona and Kensington. We worked it out by splitting the number 832 into 800 and 32. We did this because we always split the number into the tidiest number in the 8 times tables, which was 800. Then we wrote down 32 because that was the remaining number. After that we did 800 ÷ 8 = 100 and then we did 32 ÷ 8 = 4. Then we did 100 + 4 = 104. That was how we got our answer of 104. I found that our strategy was easy and simple because we found the answer when we started discussing our strategy. One thing that I found quite challenging was trying to explain it to the class because I was kind of shy to talk in front of the class. I think that my next steps are to try and find another way to solve the equation because we had all had the same strategy. Over all I really enjoyed our maths lesson and I learnt something new as well.

🥄 Ham & Cheese Macaroni 🥄

Technology Reflection!

Our Ham & Cheese Macaroni

Last week we went to our Cooking class at Tamaki College. We made Ham & Cheese Macaroni and my cooking partner was Bianna. I was very excited to cook Ham & Cheese Macaroni because I haven't made Macaroni where you have to bake it in the Oven. One thing that I found very challenging at Technology was making the white sauce because I wasn't sure when to add the Flour and Milk. But I tried my best and the food turned out to be very nice. Since my partner Bianna was allergic to Onions we made the Macaroni without them and they were still very nice. I think that my next steps are to follow the instructions and to ask Miss Tuipulotu for directions if I get stuck.
Here is a Google Drawing showing the Ingredients, Equipment and the Method.

Tai Chi

Today the girls went down to the Music room for our Tai Chi lesson with Mr Gordon. I was very excited to go to Tai Chi because I find Tai Chi very relaxing. When we down stairs we stood in our lines and then we started doing our Chi Gung which is our breathing exercises. Our breathing exercises are Drawing from the Earth, Monkey washes face, Breath of the Heart, Opening the Channels, Full body breathing and Drawing from the Sky. I really enjoyed these exercises because I felt very relaxed and calm. I didn't really find any of the movements challenging at all because I just went with the flow. Another thing that we did was our Tiger Form and our Crane form. I really enjoyed the Tiger form because it just stays in my head and I find it relaxing as well. One thing that I found quite challenging was doing the Crane form because I sometimes get it mixed up with the Tiger almost always.

Then we all got our chairs and we started our sharing circle. In our sharing circle we share something positive, negative and a random act of kindness that we did in the week. Something positive that happened was I made Pancakes for my Mum, something negative was I keep of fighting with nephews and a random act of kindness was helping my Dad with the washing. I really enjoyed the sharing circle because I find it easy to share my feelings and thoughts. Once the sharing circle was finished we moved on to our Power word. Every week Mr Gordon shares our power word to help us with our work. Our power word is Communication and I think that communication is very important if you have a plan because you need to make sure that people are clear on the plan. I think that my next steps are to start communicate more with my peers so we can be on the same page most of the time.

🏐 Volleyball 🏐

IALH: To Set the ball properly

This Term our Kiwisport is Volleyball and we have it with our coach Alena. I was very excited to have our second lesson with our Coach because I don't really know how to play Volleyball properly. In our first lesson our coach taught us how to do a underarm serve and how to shuffle side to side. After our first lesson I was excited to go to the second lesson because I was actually having fun while learning. Yesterday our main focus in Kiwisport was how to Set the ball properly. I thought that setting the ball was just throwing the ball in the air but there is actually more to the move. One thing that I learnt was that you should make sure that you are setting the ball above your head so it gives the opportunity for your teammate to Spike the ball. Another thing that I learnt was to set the ball very well you should make sure your hands are above your head, Bend down to make your set go upwards and to extend your legs out and push the ball up or over the net. I really enjoyed this lesson because I never knew that setting wasn't just pushing a ball up. One thing that I found challenging was trying to set the ball straight because I accidentally set the ball to the wall instead of my partner. But I really enjoyed the Volleyball lesson because I learnt how to set the ball correctly. My next steps are to try and set the ball more straight and I can do this by practicing in my own time.

Mothers Day Relfection

As most of you might have known Sunday was Mothers Day. On Saturday I got the chance to go to dinner with My Mum and my sister Tee. We went to a restaurant in Otahuhu called Sam Woo. We really enjoyed trying something new because sometimes we usually stick to the same restaurants all the time. I tried Spicy Salt Spare Ribs and they were very delicious. When we were leaving the restaurant we got the chance to receive a video call from my nephew Ariki. Since I was feeling very tired I decided to sleep over at my Mums house. One of the contests in our family is to make a Mother's day breakfast before my other siblings. Because I was already at my Mums I had an advantage so on Sunday I made some Mickey Mouse Pancakes for my Mum. One of the challenges that I faced was trying to make some of the Mickey Mouse pancakes look like MIckey Mouse because I added too much batter on one of the ears almost all of the time. But my Mum really liked the Pancakes and I was happy because I was the first to make Mum a Mothers Day breakfast. Next Mothers day I want to make my Mum something extra special that no one has made for my Mum. Over all I really enjoyed Mothers Day because my Mum felt really happy and she really enjoyed the Pancakes.
